Beginning January 2012, Texas State Law (SB 1107) mandates that all entering students under the age of 30 provide an official document signed by a health care provider or an official immunization record verifying that a student has been vaccinated against bacterial meningitis, or has received a booster during the five years prior to attending class. Please be advised that new students must provide proof of immunization before attending classes for Spring 2012. Medical Insurance Update: Effective Spring 2012: All non-immigrant international students are required to have acceptable health insurance coverage. Individual policies are no longer accepted as an alternative health insurance policy. Waiver requests submitted with private insurance policies will not be accepted.
You may request a waiver of the University of Houston endorsed student insurance policy in the following instances:- You have a government or scholarship sponsored plan that meets UH's waiver criteria.
- You have ACCEPTABLE coverage through a job-based employer's health insurance plan.
- You have ACCEPTABLE coverage as a daughter/son of a parent or relative covered under a job-based employer's health insurance plan.
