The diverse cultures of Houston's
residents account for the city's international orientation in the arts,
entertainment and culture. With 3.4 million residents in the metropolitan
area, Houston provides many cultural events and entertainment opportunities:
from Grand Opera productions and free Shakespeare in the park to rodeos
and rock concerts in Reliant Stadium. The city also has professional
football, baseball and basketball teams at Reliant Stadium, Minute Maid
Park and Toyota Center respectively. The weather in Houston can change
considerably during the year, and students should be prepared for cool
weather in winter (averaging 16C), and hot and humid weather in the summer
(averaging 31C).
